When Mike Clare graduates with the Harvard Class of 2001, he hopes to enter a profession more physically challenging - and potentially lucrative - than his fellow graduates.
Clare wants to be an NFL trench worker.
"I joke about that with my roommates who don't play football," said Clare, a 6-foot-4, 325-pounder who started 30 consecutive games at left tackle for the Crimson. "They are all applying for Wall Street-type jobs and we laugh about (potential) base starting salaries when we sit down and look at it."
Clare is among a handful of Ivy League players hoping to be picked in the NFL draft, which begins with the first three rounds today and continues tomorrow.
