WESTINGHOUSE SAYS SITE NOT ISSUE ON NUCLEAR WASTE FACILITY

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Corp. (NYSE: WX) said today it and the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS) are negotiating termination of the contract for work on the state's low-level radioactive waste facility because of disagreements with the department on ownership, financing and liability -- not because of siting issues.

The company said the dispute over liability was not related to concerns about sites currently being investigated for the facility, contrary to some recently published reports.
