Apr. 20--Lawrence isn't the only Douglas County community experiencing growth. In 1959, when Tom Pyle and his wife, Alberta, moved to Eudora, the town had just more than 600 people. The 2000 federal census pegged Eudora's population at 4,307 people.
Since then, Eudora's population has grown about seven times. From 1990 to 2000 alone, it jumped by more than 43 percent, to 4,307 people.
Despite all the growth in the past four decades, Eudora still appeals to Pyle for its small-town feel and nearby big-city advantages.
