The United States Senate recently voted in favor of a campaign finance reform bill. Arizona senator John McCain, a Republican, and Wisconsin senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat, sponsored the controversial bill. The bill bans "soft" money, large, unregulated contributions by corporations, labor unions, or individuals to political parties. The bill however, raises the amount that individuals can contribute (or "hard" money) to political candidates. Before becoming a law, the bill must pass a vote in the House of Representatives and be signed by President George W. Bush. What is the cartoonist's view of campaign finance reform?
