After leading his Maryland Eastern Shore town of 428 persons for a decade, Galena Mayor Harry J. Pisapia has decided he needs a break.
But he can't find anyone to take his job.
With just two weeks to go before Election Day, nobody has signed up to run for mayor. So Mr. Pisapia, 56, will have to remain in office until the Town Council can find someone willing to be appointed mayor, unless there is a write-in candidate, say Kent County election officials and the town attorney.
Galena has 120 registered voters, but only about 50 are expected to vote May 8. They will be allowed to write the name of anybody they want for mayor on their ballots. ...
