Apr. 26--WASHINGTON, D.C.--Amid concerns about dwindling competition in the oil industry, the top West Coast executive of BP Amoco on Wednesday urged a Senate panel not to consider reinstating a ban on Alaskan oil exports.

Bob Malone, president of BP Amoco's Western U.S. business, said the company needed flexibility to export Alaskan oil products in order to cover spot contracts and streamline its distribution.

"Mr. Chairman, that is working with the market in order to be able to look for those kinds of opportunities to maximize our profit," Malone told ...
