Tourism: Facility Doubles In Size and Includes New Large-Screen Theater

Having reopened to the public April 6 after three months of full-blown construction, the San Diego Natural History Museum is poised for a new era of its own.

A major part of the 126-year-old museum's future will be a new $15 million campaign to fund permanent exhibits.

The exhibits will feature past and present habitats of Southern California and Baja California, the regions that have become the Natural History Museum's focus, said Ruth Shelly, the museum's deputy director of public programs.
