GREENVILLE, Maine - Sometimes city living just isn't living.
Oh sure, you can thrive in the middle of the action, but the hectic life at the center of the volcanic vortex tends to wear you out, knock you flat.
The exhaust pollutes the air. The persistent rumble of heavy trucks and buses jangles the nerves. Cell phone jabberers pretend they own the sidewalks while they release a persistent stream of noise. The cell brigade is yet another reminder we do not live in polite society.
The city is a magnet for irritations, for rudeness, for grimy manners and muddy politics.
Inevitably, there comes that deep yearning to escape, to breathe ...
