JOHN PROCOPE SELLS INTEREST IN NEW YORK AMSTERDAM NEWS

/ADVANCE/NEW YORK, June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- John L. Procope, president and publisher of the New York Amsterdam News, announced today the sale of his interest in Amnews, Inc., the corporation that owns the newspaper, to Wilbert Tatum, editor-in-chief.

With the sale, Procope relinquishes the position he has held since 1974. At the same time, with the stock sale, he turns over to Tatum controlling interest in the respected 80-year-old weekly, published at 2340 Frederick Douglass Blvd. in Harlem.
