Colin Lee really did not know just what he was letting himself in for when he returned to Torquay at the beginning of March.
Torquay United, the hometown club who had given him his big break in football, were in big trouble, at the very foot of the Football League.
Gulls' chairman Mike Bateson, aware of Lee's jobless state since his shock sacking by Wolverhampton Wanderers in December and also of his lasting respect in the game, turned to him to come home and effect a rescue.
