SYDNEY, April 30 Asia Pulse - News Corp Ltd (ASX:NCP) shares lifted today after Rupert Murdoch appeared to have boosted the prospect of success for his US$70 billion (A$138 billion) DirecTV deal by sweetening an offer to General Motors.
According to The Wall Street Journal newspaper, the revised bid had gained support among the General Motors camp with senior executives leaning towards recommending stepped-up negotiations with News Corp.
News Corp shares finished 2.9 per cent or 52.8 cents stronger at A$18.626 (US$9.43) today with its preferred scrip up 40.1 cents to A$15.80 (US$8.00).
