Imagine a program that allows employees to head off those expensive cardiac procedures by targeting one of the root causes of heart disease: cholesterol.
Cardiovascular disease certainly is a concern that employers would do well to address. As of 1997, according to the American Heart Association, close to 60 million people were suffering from some form of heart disease, with 953,100 dying that year. Coronary heart disease, caused by the arteriosclerosis that results from high cholesterol, accounted for 466,101 deaths.
