In a conflict that should play high in the hearts of many TLfDP readers, the Italian head of Environment has decreed that the Vatican's shortwave radio transmission tower emissions are responsible for an epidemic of leukemia in children living in the surrounding suburbs. When the Vatican built the towers in the 1950's the surrounding area was largely unsettled; today over 100,000 Italians live within a few miles of the radio towers.
