Any parent who watches a child have a severe allergic reaction to a food gains a graphic understanding of the term "life- threatening" and the need for prompt treatment.

Fortunately, most allergic reactions are not severe, but they are becoming more common, for unknown reasons.

Understanding the risks and frequency of food allergies and the steps you can take to treat reactions might help alleviate some of the anxiety associated with food allergy. Because this is Food Allergy Awareness Week, it's a good time to learn more.
