May 1--R. Sterling Trantham, an assistant professor of photography in New Mexico State University's Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, has been selected by National Geographic for the 2001 faculty fellowship program.
Each year National Geographic selects one professor from the nation to take part in the program. Trantham will spend three months with the magazine and will work with several departments including photography, production and layout and design. The skills he learns during the fellowship will benefit the journalism department and the university, Trantham said.
