The future of St. Paul's bedeviled Gopher State Ethanol plant remained murky Tuesday, after a top legislative leader again blocked state aid for odor control equipment at the plant.
Gopher State officials had hoped for a state grant of up to $400,000 to help cover the $1.2 million cost of a thermal oxidizer, which they expect will finally eliminate the plant's sickly sweet odor.
But Senate Majority Leader Roger Moe, DFL-Erskine, blocked the move for the second straight day, saying that it would set a bad precedent for other ethanol plants in the state, according to Sen. Sandy Pappas, DFL-St. Paul. (Star Tribune efforts to reach Moe were unsuccessful ...
