THE 2001 edition of EBONY'S annual listing of the 100+ Most Influential Black Americans reflects some historic ascensions to positions of power. It also marks the return of one of the most venerable figures of the civil rights struggle, as well as the coronation of a pair of pop music kings.
The dawning of the new year saw the dawning of a new presidential administration. With it came the rise of four African-Americans who had distinguished themselves both in previous administrations, as well as in high-profile roles in other arenas.
