WASHINGTON, April 30 Asia Pulse - The United States has placed Taiwan on its Special 301 "priority watch list" in its annual review of intellectual property rights protection, the U.S. Trade Representative Office (USTR) announced Monday.
Prior to being elevated to the "priority watch list," Taiwan had been placed on the "watch list" under the Special 301 provisions of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended, for each of the previous three years.
"The problem with Taiwan is that CD piracy has become an increasing problem there," said a USTR senior official during a background briefing prior to the report's release.
