Peak Torque-to-Body Weight Ratios in the Trunk: A Critical Analysis Clinicians are increasingly encouraged to obtain quantitative measurements of muscle performance from clients instead of using qualitative muscle tests. Quantitative muscle testing, regardless of the device used, is a more sensitive measure than is manual testing to assess muscle strength greater than Fair (3/5). A problem inherent in both forms of muscle performance testing, however, is the large degree of intersubject variability.
