FOLLOWING THE completion of its roughly $8 billion merger with Union Carbide Corporation in February, Dow Chemical Company has gained several key assets as it moves forward with a growth plan for Asia-Pacific. The company is targeting several strategic markets in the region, including fibers, construction and food packaging in Japan, Korea, and China, electronics in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, and plastics in China.
Dow officials point to recent gains in its Asia-based division, Dow Chemical Pacific Ltd. (DCP), whose turnover surged from $2.4 billion in 1999 to $3.3 billion in 2000, as being indicative of even greater strides that will be made in the first year of ...
