Sodium Sulfate May Be Cut From Toxic List WASHINGTON (FNS) -- The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed dropping sodium sulfate, a chemical used in dyeing and finishing in the textile industry, from a list of toxic substances subject to federal toxic-release reporting requirements, the agency reported. Hoechst Celanese Corp. had petitioned the EPA to remove sodium sulfate from the list.
Federal law requires manufacturers using certain chemicals to submit to the EPA each year reports on the quantity of those chemicals their factories release into the environment. Companies failing to comply ...
