May 7, 2001--Standard & Poor's today affirmed its single-'A'-minus counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on Amedex Insurance Co. (AIC). The outlook is stable.

The ratings are based on the company's good business position as a niche provider of major medical products in Latin America, a favorable operating performance, and strong capitalization to support not only current needs, but also to fund future expansion.
