NRC TO FINE BG&E FOR CALVERT CLIFFS VIOLATIONS
BALTIMORE, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. (NYSE: BGE) (BG&E) today announced that the staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to fine the utility $75,000 for procedural violations in work activities at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant which occurred in April 1988 and April 1989.
The first incident involved a temporary modification to the plant's refueling machinery which should have been reviewed and approved by the plant's own safety review committee before the modifications were made. This modification was not subjected to this advance ...
