May 8--Some kids spend hours tinkering with erector sets or Legos. Bill Putnam's childhood obsession was radio. He would spend hours in the garage with his dad, soldering "gobs of components and circuits" to boards to create home-made radios.
Neither his obsession with radio -- nor the venue -- has changed over time. As an adult, Putnam is still fiddling with radio in his Santa Cruz garage. And the result of his relentless tinkering may just revolutionize how we discover music online.
