Stanley Fischer, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will leave his position later in 2001. A successor to Mr. Fischer, who joined the IMF on September 1, 1994, is expected to be named in due course by IMF Managing Director Horst Kohler.
