Mom threw out all my old baseball cards, of course. You can always count on moms to do that. They will call to remind you about daylight-saving time, they will offer you more food no matter how much you've eaten, and they will absolutely throw out your baseball cards when you're looking the other way.
I don't know how many baseball cards Mom threw out, but in memory, there were millions. There were a deluge of George Bretts, Reggie Jacksons, Tom Seavers, Mickey Mantles _ hundreds and hundreds of Mickey Mantles, rookie Mantles, Mantles from his prime, Mantles at the end, which is kind of funny because, in fact, I wasn't nearly old enough to collect any Mickey ...
