by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Scientists in France have confirmed that several subtypes of hepatitis C virus (HCV) type 4 are prevalent among the population of a region in Paris, France, and can be used for epidemiological classification.
HCV type 4 (HCV-4) is two times more common in the population of the Seine-Saint-Denis district of France than in the remaining population of continental France, scientists say in the May 2001 issue of the Journal of General Virology.
