West Chester Township is razing a fire station in Pisgah and replacing it with a larger, $1.5 million facility.
The 6,700-square-foot firehouse built in the 1960s will be replaced with a 10,800-square-foot station at the same site at 7715 John Road.
The present firehouse consists of a four-bay station and a basement area providing living quarters, an office, kitchen, and dormitory space for five firefighters and medics.
Its replacement will have semi-private quarters for firefighters and medics, handicapped-accessible restrooms, and separate shower facilities for men and women.
