The Swiss architectural team of Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron has been awarded the Priztker Architecture Prize for 2001. The $100,000 award, sponsored by the Hyatt Foundation, is the most prestigious prize in the field. The partners are known for distinctive structures of wood, concrete, metal, glass or stone that allow interiors to be softly filled with light. Among their completed projects are the Tate Modern in London, the Dominus Winery in Napa Valley, the ISP Institute for Hospital Pharmaceuticals in Basel, and the Goertz Collection, a private museum in Munich.
