May 11--NASHUA, N.H. - Letting a neighboring tannery dump sludge into a landfill on their property seemed like a good idea to officials at Fimbel Door Corp. back in the late 1970s.
Eight years later, the Mohawk Tannery went belly-up, and state and federal environmental regulators were holding Fimbel Door responsible for cleaning up the mess on its property, which included hazardous wastes that tannery President Warren Kean ordered to be dumped into the landfill, court records show.
