The Senate unanimously (99-0) approved S. 350, the Brownfields Revitalization and Environmental Restoration Act of 2001 last Wednesday attaining a unique outcome -- unanimity on an environmental statute that has been held hostage to the desire of many Senators for broader Superfund reform.
The measure, which enjoyed significant bi-partisan co-sponsorship in the Environment and Public Works Committee (Smith, R-N.H., Chair), authorizes significant increases in funding for remediation of old underused or abandoned industrial sites.
