Around the clock, we are bombarded with punditry - waves of talking heads, especially on cable TV. But with all this caterwauling, we get fewer actual facts than in the days when we had to rely primarily on newspapers.
Two egregious examples of George Orwell's warning that "the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts" took place on CNN's "Capital Gang" on April 21. But that television program and network hardly have a patent on what Orwell described as "newspeak."
