A federal-court judge will consider the request of conservationists to shut down logging in the Sierra Nevada until the federal government provides a plan to protect the California spotted owl and the Pacific fisher.
The lawsuit, filed in Sacramento by the Earth Island Institute, the Tule River Conservancy, and the Forest Conservation Council, covers 10 national forests.
