PENNEY'S TO LAYOUT OVER $220M ON CASH REGISTER BAR CODING
DALLAS -- To reap benefits from Quick Response and better customer service, J.C. Penney Co. will spend more than $220 million over three years to supply new cash registers equipped with bar code scanners to its 1,500 stores.
David Miller, vice chairman and chief operating officer of stores and catalogs, revealed Penney's plans here this week at the Chief Executive Officer Briefing on Quick Response sponsored by the Voluntary Interindustry Communications Standards Committee.
