Richard Fireman doesn't like to think about life without Lotronex.
Until the tiny blue tablet came along last year, Fireman's irritable bowel syndrome was out of control.
The 73-year-old Chicagoan had diarrhea three or four times a day.
The disorder made him petrified to take the bus downtown for fear of being away from a bathroom for too long.
He vividly recalls a few embarrassing instances when he ventured outside his Hyde Park home and couldn't make it to a bathroom fast enough.
