CHESAPEAKE -- Ambitious college students might crown their final year in school with a stunning thesis or a row of A's on their transcript.
Randall Johnson's signature achievement was helping douse the fire that threatened to destroy Longwood College two weeks ago.
Johnson, 21, a volunteer firefighter who will graduate Saturday with a degree in business administration, was among 170 people who spent three days conquering the fire - but not before it destroyed four buildings and cut short the school year.
