French Impressionist artist Edgar Degas (1834-1917) is the subject of a new exhibit at the High Museum of Art called "Degas & America: The Early Collectors." According to museum officials, the exhibit is the first to explore the early response to Degas by American critics and collectors. It also reveals how these critics and collectors played key roles in "fostering the passion for Degas that has resulted in the magnificent collections of his work that can be seen in America today," according to Ann Dumas, co-curator of the show.
