Oleg Korneev, 19-year-old son of the Babe Ruth of Russia, is working on his English but has a long way to go. He was asked this question Wednesday at Midway Stadium: What do you enjoy most about playing baseball?
The lanky righthander and employee of the Russian Army nodded and replied, "Favorite team? Good team the New York Yankees."
The answers didn't always match the questions, but the universal language of baseball came to St. Paul when the Russian National Team and the Saints played an exhibition game on Wednesday night.
