Ontario is investing C$1.8 million to help seven companies make certified Halal foods and capture new, international markets, Ontario Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Brian Coburn said Thursday.

Coburn said increasing the output of Halal products will mean gains for the province's agri-food industry, especially in increased poultry production and exports, and more demand for feed, wheat, and flour from Ontario suppliers.
