For the second straight year, a battle between Cary-Grove and Lake Zurich could not be decided in the minimum of seven innings.
Instead they played a few extra innings. Quite a few Wednesday afternoon.
A total of 19, with the Trojans picking up the 1-0 Fox Valley Conference victory at Lake Zurich. Last year, Cary-Grove also beat Lake Zurich in 17 innings.
The longest game according to IHSA records was 28 innings over two days by Oak Park and Glenbard West that started on May 10 and finished ironically on May 16 of last year.
