It was as if Immune Response Corp. awakened from the dead. After months of no news, following bad news, the Carlsbad-based biotechnology company made headlines of a stock resurgence.

Shares of Immune Response climbed as much as 115 percent April 23, the day the firm announced a European medical journal will publish a detailed analysis of a subset of data that suggests its experimental AIDS vaccine, Remune, benefits some patients.

Company shares closed at $2.58 on April 23, up 95 cents from April 20.

Investors' excitement, however, was short-lived.

Immune Response shares dropped to $2.18 on April 24 and closed at $2.05 the next day.
