More than 150 delegates and guests attended the first day of the MEED 2001 Gulf Congress held at the Beach Rotana hotel on 27-28 March in Abu Dhabi. The event was held under the title 'Energy, Infrastructure & Finance in the Middle East.'
"We have taken a big leap in the fields of energy, infrastructure and economic development," said a message from Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa al-Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry. "The economic diversification and political stability has made the UAE a significant place in the Gulf for investment. Other states in the region can benefit from our experience."
