WASHINGTON -- Wisconsin ranked 47th among the states in federal money received per person in the year 2000, trailed only by Nevada and Utah, according to an analysis by a research group that promotes Midwestern and Northeastern states.
In 2000, the federal government spent an average of $5,608 per American to provide services, buy equipment and give grants for research or social work.
But that spending is not evenly distributed. Wisconsin residents received only $4,530 per person in federal money in 2000, according to the Northeast-Midwest Institute, which researches and promotes ...
