Belittled
APRIL 16th marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charlie Chaplin, and the centenary industry is already under way. A comprehensive new book ("Remembering Charlie", by Jerry Epstein) has just been published; there is a season of Chaplin's films at London's National Film Theatre throughout April; and an exhibition called "The Worlds of Charlie Chaplin" holds sway at the Museum of the Moving Image until August 30th. All these events happen in London because that is where he was born, within a mile of the South Bank Complex, in 1889.
