SENIOR members of the Labour party today oppposed Tony Blair's plan to bring Britain under an American missile defence shield.
Leaders of the protest against the plan also claimed that dozens of backbench MPs were preparing to sign a Commons motion opposing President George W Bush's "son of Star Wars" project.
Former Defence Minister Peter Kilfoyle and Labour veteran Lord Healey joined the opposition.
Bruce George, the Labour chairman of the Commons Defence Committee, criticised the way that the policy shift was announced by Mr Blair's spokesman minutes after the Prime Minister told the Commons he was sticking to ...
