A new study by researchers from the Department of Anatomy at the University of Bristol, UK has found that chronic jet lag may cause part of the brain to shrink, resulting in impaired mental functions.

The study, which is published in the Nature Neuroscience journal, compared the size of the temporal lobes of two groups of flight attendants who had different amounts of time to recover from jet lag. The researchers used MRI scans to make the comparison and found that the group with less time between flights had smaller right temporal lobes.
