A CLIMBER trapped on a mountain was saved yesterday - by a text message.
The man called police on his mobile after falling in the Llanberis Pass in Snowdonia.
But the crew of an RAF rescue helicopter could not spot the injured climber, who was stuck behind a rock.
They tried to ring him on his mobile, but the mountainous area By Adam Powell prevented the signal reaching him.
Then an RAF operator decided to send a text message, hoping the weaker signal needed would get through.
He tapped out, 'This is the RAF.
We are trying to find you. Unable to find you at this moment. Can you contact us?' and sent the message ...
