May 22--In an experiment that could change the way sports tickets are sold, the best seats to the 2002 Winter Olympics are being offered to the highest bidder on the Internet.
The Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee on Monday launched an auction on eBay for more than 100 front-row seats to the Games' cornerstone events.
In the first-of-its-kind auction, Salt Lake organizers hope to raise $100,000 from premium tickets with an average face value of $200. The move signals a potentially lucrative way for sports organizers to eliminate scalping for high-demand ...
