THERE are few sounds more stirring than that of a concert organ in full thunder - and few instruments more impressive than the one at the Royal Festival Hall. The console has recently been refurbished from top to bottom at a cost of [pound]120,000 - which is more than the organ cost to build in the first place.
Massive and powerful it may be, this monster nevertheless has a gentle and vulnerable side that brings out the caring instinct in its curator, William McVicker.
