Myra Kirchberg felt relieved once she passed her 35th week of pregnancy. Before that, she experienced pre-term labor, but doctors stopped her contractions, saying her twin boys weren't big enough yet to be born.

Once she hit her 35th week, however, doctors told her that if she gave birth, the twins would be large enough to survive on their own.

The next morning Kirchberg woke up thrilled that she had passed that hurdle and was heading into the final days of her pregnancy. That day, Kirchberg was upstairs in her Crystal Lake home preparing for a normal morning, when the unthinkable happened.
